About the Opportunity

Principled Careers is hiring on behalf of an innovative EdTech organization that's building the next generation of intelligent learning tools. As an AI Product Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge generative AI into digital classroom experiences.
You'll lead the development of AI-driven product features that support students with real-time, conversational science help at scale. Working as part of a cross-functional team of educators, engineers, designers, and product managers, you’ll shape how large language models (LLMs) are applied in ways that are not only technically impressive but pedagogically sound.
This is an early-stage opportunity to help define the company’s AI strategy, systems, and culture as they continue to expand their global impact in education

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and shipping AI-powered learning experiences in student- and teacher-facing web applications.

  • Prototyping and deploying LLM-based features like science feedback tools, adaptive hinting, question generation, and teacher co-pilots.

  • Working across the stack using React, TypeScript, Python, and GraphQL.

  • Leveraging techniques such as prompt engineering, RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), vector search, and fine-tuning.

  • Collaborating closely with curriculum and pedagogy experts to ensure features align with core educational values.

  • Contributing to internal AI infrastructure including prompt versioning, evaluation pipelines, and observability tools.

  • Playing a key role in defining ethical and effective use cases for LLMs in education, prioritising both impact and safety.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience working in full stack or backend development.

  • Comfortable working with React, TypeScript, Python, and GraphQL.

  • You've built and shipped LLM-powered features or apps that people actually use.

  • Familiar with the tools and ideas behind LLMOps: prompt testing, version control, RAG, and evaluation workflows.

  • You’ve got a good sense of what makes a product feel right and genuinely care about the people using it, especially students and teachers.

  • You work well with others and can communicate clearly across different roles.

  • You’re excited about using technology to support teachers and help students learn better.

  • (Bonus points if you’ve worked in EdTech or on products designed for learning).
